Realize your creative dream this Fall on Lopez Island, in the heart of the San Juan Islands in Washington State.

Eight Lopez Island Artists, all experienced instructors, offer hands-on, four day learning experiences in their studios in a wide variety of media, including: painting, pastel, clay, etching, stone sculpture, mask-making, mixed media and digital photography.

Workshop Format
Each workshop consists of 4 morning sessions or 4 afternoon sessions. One workshop is offered as 4 full days. Each half day workshop meets for three hours.You may sign up for two half day workshops, a morning and an afternoon session. A generous two hour break in between allows you enough time to refresh for the next round.

• STONE SCULPTING WITH HAND TOOLS - Tamara Buchanan
  Experience the mystery and joy of finding out what is inside a stone. Using hand tools you will learn the techniques to turn stone into art.
• THE LURE OF LANDSCAPES - Colin Goode
  This fun studio class will introduce you to water soluble oil colors.
• MASK MAKING - Polly Ham
  Masks have the power to transform. You will create from a plaster gauze mask of your own face.
• THE ART OF DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - Pat Torpie
  Learn how to enjoy the creative and technical process of digital imaging.

• INCREDIBLE CLAY EXPERIENCE
  - Nancy Bingham & Polly Ham
  Create and burnish hand built pieces. Learn to fire using fast smoke, sawdust and primitive pit on the beach.

  Have an ugly suitcase, garden stature or purse? Transform it into a personalized work of art!

  If Michelangelo could have used these tools, he would have. Learn to use power tools to carve stone.
• STILL LIFE MEDIA DABBLE - Colin Goode
  Dabble in a variety of media. Particularly helpful for hesitant students who feel a latent creative spirit within.

• Beginning Landscape Painting in Soft Pastel - Steve Hill
  Covers basics of pastel application. Learn to express yourself in this wonderful medium - all day!

One Half Day Class (MON-THURS), 9-NOON OR 2-5PM - $165*

Full Day Class OR Two Half Day Workshops (MON-THURS) - $330*

Classes have been scheduled so that it is possible to take two different classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Refund policy
If you cancel before August 18th, there will be a $30.00 non-refundable processing fee. The remainder of the class fee will be refunded. After August 18th, there will be no refund with participant’s cancellation. All classes not meeting their minimum enrollment 2 weeks prior to class start date may be cancelled.If this happens, Lopez Arts Experience will call enrolled students to offer placement in alternate classes or a full refund. A full refund will be issued if a class is cancelled by Lopez Arts Experience.
