Orcas Island

The Orcas Center’s Visual Arts Committee
A very special art show opens! Friday, May 2nd at the Orcas Center. Please join the Visual Arts Committee (VAC) and Chairmen Carolyn Wayland and Tracey Levine for the reception of “FROM THE FRIDGE TO THE WALL”. This unique show exhibits artwork created by Orcas children. Normally these cherished works are only seen on the family refrigerator. However, in an attempt to encourage youngsters to be proud of their artistic visions, the VAC hosts a show displaying children’s artwork in both the Lobby Gallery and The Madrona Room.

Join the proud children Friday
May 2 between 3:30-5:30pm for a viewing and reception with snacks and music. The art will hang the entire month of May so if you can’t make it Friday, drop in Monday-Friday or weekends during a performance.

Edna Gallery
is proud to present a show of new work by renowned Orcas artist and activist Peter Fisher. The show will be at our gallery in the old Porter Station building at 310 Main Street in Eastsound. This show is the first in a series of Spring and Fall shows at Edna Gallery. The show will run from Saturday April 19th through Sunday May 5th. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11-5 and by appointment.

The show is entitled "Mexico: Light Travel." Peter says of his show: "My inspiration for this artwork is to explore the abstract qualities of light. In one photograph, for example, sunlight transforms a pressed glass window from a hard cold material into a set of golden curves dancing like waves on a shore. Whether a street scene or architectural detail, theses images playfully entice the viewer to enjoy the spontaneous and miraculous confluence of form, tonality, and illumination that is special to Mexico.” INFORMATION: Call Edna gallery at 376-6934 or email art@ednagallery.com.

Dick Haffey Exhibit:

WHEN: Begins Monday, April 28 (on view 9 am – 4 pm)
