Lopez Island

The Lopez Island Family Resource Center Check out the upcoming summer workshops: sailing, kayaking, performing and creative arts, sports, technology and outdoor activities are all part of the offerings!! Brochures will be mailed to all Lopez residences and prior year participants and available at the Lopez Library, Chamber office, Family Resource Center and on-line at www.lifrc.org . Orcas Island


Watercolor Workshop with CAROLINE BUCHANAN
Caroline Buchanan is jurying the Southwestern Watercolor Society annual show and conducting a 3-day workshop the end of April. Immediately afterwards she is starting the Poetry of Painting series in Anacortes. Both of these workshops are filled and have a waiting list as does her workshop in Gibsons B.C., the first week of August.

In upcoming workshops, there are still some places left in the Painting Flowers Loose and Splashy, June 7 and 8 in Anacortes, two vacancies in the Basic Watercolor class held at the Olga Community Center June 24-27, plenty of spaces in the Island Hopping sketch-watercolor-journaling class July 21-25 and Watercolor Summer on Orcas, September 18-24.

Techniques of Stone Carving with Tom Small
July 5, 2008 - July 6, 2008
Times: 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Location: Westcott Bay Sculpture Park, San Juan Island
Admission: Tuition $115; Supply Fee $40; optional carving tool kit: $130 (pre-order by June 6). For ages 10 and up. This class will cover hand carving limestone and other new, exciting stones using chisels, hammers, and files.


Precious Treasures with Rhonda Scott
August 2, 2008, Times: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Location: Westcott Bay Sculpture Park, San Juan Island
Admission: Tuition $80; Supply Fee $50 Learn how to create beautiful jewelry out of Precious Metal Clay using molds and rubber stamps. For ages 16 and up.
