An update on what marketing is taking place with the San Juan Artist Community:
SanJuanArtistCommunity.com was launched in August 2003 when there was sufficient sign up to create content for the local visual arts, it was time to submit the web site to search engines, which then take up to eight weeks to fortify. After having successful submissions and when viewers were indeed able to find the web site quickly and easily, it was time to move into phase II of our marketing plan which was to purchase listings for print media.
We are pleased to announce that phase II is underway and to tell you what this means for you as a member or prospective member in the San Juan Artist Community web site.
Phase II consists of four parts
- Restructuring the directory listing to place artists within their own type of art, all the ceramicists are in their own section and photographers in their own section. That was completed February 6th 2004. Visit the directory at: Artist Directory by Media in The San Juan Island's - Washington.
- The second item was to purchase three print media advertisements to be circulated in Washington state and beyond, and are ongoing since March 2004.
a. San Juan Visitors Bureau, who will publish San Juan Artist Community.com as a directory listing in the Gallery section of their print material beginning in March 2004. Also, we are listed on their web site with enough text to adequately describe what a visitor to our web site will find.
b. Northwest Art Guides publication due out annually April 15th and October 15th. This will be republished and circulated with new covers for each month, and for six months. Besides a listing and description in their print material we will also be listed on their web site.
c. The San Juander publication due out April 14th 2004. This is a widely published and distributed booklet in Washington State. Places where it is distributed are on all washington ferries, SeaTac Airport, and tourism offices across the state. There will also be a listing on their gosanjuans.com web site.
- 3. The third item is to notify all of you who have listings in the directory or have an artist page to please review your information, making sure that it is up to date, and to remind you that you have two updates a year for the artist page and directory listings. Why is this important?
At the end of each month key search engines are being paid to visit our site and take a full index of the web site. If you want to make the most of this marketing provided, you will want to make sure your information is up to date or tweaked for presentation by either the end of February or the end of March 2004. This will better ensure --- that you can be found when these publications go out in March and April.
- The fourth item is to encourage all of you who have committed to having a directory listing or an Artist Page by making a deposit, or paying in full, to get your material together and submit it by April 15th to be guaranteed in the April search engine indexing. And of to invite those individuals who have been thinking of having their own listing to contact Tori now and get started. New memberships should have their material to me by April 15 to make sure it is included in the April 26th indexing of the web site.
Additional Marketing coming soon...
March will also bring additional marketing in the form of local advertisement to local newspapers and web sites where we'll consistently show throughout the year.
Classes and Workshops listings
There has been an increasing number of inquiries from people intending to be in the area for the spring months who are looking now for workshops available in our area. We expect these inquiries to increase as we move through the year. Please include us in your information distribution for art class and workshops and they will be posted FREE.
The Artist Pages and your business cards
Reminder -- for those of you who do have an Artist Page on the web site, you can place that web address onto your own business cards – See example below
for Paula West Studio.
www.sanjuanartistcommunity.com/west/
It's simple, add your last name behind the address to the web site.
For those of you who wish to have a shorter address, there is good news. We also have other domain names: you can use http://www.sanjuanartists.com/ instead of the longer version. Again, simply add your last name to end of the web address as in the example above.
